Description: Sociability provides peer 2 peer support to people who endure mental and/or chronic health conditions...along with anyone suffering from loneliness. Sociability is facilitated by volunteers who all have lived experience, but who have reached a level of stability with their condition. We are professional in our approach, offering a variety of socially inclusive activities to our clients. Our system is based upon reciprocal support, each person provides support when needed in exchange for support when they are not feeling so great.
Sociability provide legitimate alternatives to unhealthy behavioural patterns, by providing a variety of opportunities and choices which are inviting, achievable and do not focus on the individual. Such as, Laptops with internet access, craft sessions, singing for fun, fish & chip quiz day, tai chi, combat therapy, open group dialogue, sewing bees, retro board games.
Sociability is a fully registered charity with the charities commission. We operate with a full set of guidelines, policies and procedures. Each person should respect all other service users and receive the same. We have a one-page membership form and a code of conduct to sign. Membership is free. We are open Wed, Thur and Fri afternoons from 1.30 to 4.00. Fridays are free to all, Wednesday are a pound if affordable, Thursdays no drop in, a closed martial arts group details on request.
Drop in for 10 minutes or stay for the afternoon, no pressure to take part in anything, come along for a tea and a chat. We have refreshment from our tea bar, on Fridays we have rolls or fish & chips once a month. Why endure ill health alone, come along and be ‘normal’, whatever that is, for a while.
